Join us in spreading the appeal of matcha!
Manager of the Business Development DepartmentMoriichi Haruo
The appeal of matcha
The ingredient matcha is very attractive. Tea has a history of over 1200 years since it was introduced to Japan. Matcha is a special drink among all the drinks that have been loved for such a long time.
When making sencha, which is extracted with hot water, the tea leaves are discarded, but only about 30% of the nutritional components dissolve in the hot water. Matcha is made by grinding the tea leaves into powder, so you can consume all of the nutritional components, and you can consume more than three times the nutrition of sencha. They say that tea is good for your health, but isn't matcha really the healthiest? As proof of this, with the current health boom as a driving force, matcha has now spread all over the world, and its market size is expanding year by year.
It is a traditional Japanese culture, it tastes good, and it is good for your health. I feel very rewarded to be able to work for an ever-growing market.
130 years of experience and a rich product lineup
AIYA's 130-year history means that we have the technology, know-how, and product lineup to match. AIYA has a huge range of items. In terms of origin, we can provide tea leaves from Nishio, Kyoto, and even Kagoshima in the south. In terms of quality, we can provide teas that have won first place in expert competitions, as well as very affordable ones.
In terms of characteristics, there are teas that go well with ice cream, chocolate, baked goods, healthy organic teas, teas that comply with Islamic and Jewish food regulations, teas that are environmentally friendly, and more. We have a huge range of options to meet the various needs of our customers. Having all the items you need when doing business is a strong weapon and greatly expands the scope of your work.
The joy of seeing the matcha I proposed become a product and line the shelves in stores
The greatest joy of my job is when I see the matcha I proposed as a result of my sales efforts actually become a product and line the store shelves.
We don't just stock an existing product and have them stock it. Aiya's sales are proposal-based, creating new things. We hold meetings with product developers at our client food manufacturers, propose matcha and other teas, and have them commercialize and put them on the shelves. We then deliver them to many people.
Once a product is commercialized, the results become clear. Some become long-selling products, while others are short-lived. We take the results seriously and devise a new strategy for the next creation. It's a never-ending battle, but that's also part of what makes the job fun.
