Connecting AIYA to the world

Delivering AIYA's matcha all over the world. It sounds easy to say, but it takes a lot of coordination to make it happen. It's not as simple as just sending the matcha because we have it at our headquarters.

Each country has its own trade rules and regulations. We have to clear these one by one. Matcha takes time to produce, so it's not something that can be prepared immediately when someone asks for it. With that in mind, we deliver the matcha by the deadline, taking into account each country's rules.

It's only by combining many coordinations, applications, and arrangements one by one that we can deliver the matcha. It's steady and difficult, but each and every one of these connects AIYA to the world. When the work is completed, like a puzzle fitting together neatly, there is a sense of fulfillment in having connected a path to the world.

The joy of working with people from different countries and cultures

Doing business with people from overseas is difficult but very interesting. When dealing with Japanese people, we can predict what will happen. However, this does not work for people who grew up in a different country or culture. For example, you ask a question and don't get a response. You can't get in touch with them no matter how many times you try to contact them by Skype, email, or phone. When it's too late, they say "we need matcha" as if it's the most natural thing in the world.

At first, you may be confused and perplexed, and even cry. But accept it and expand the scope of your work. If you look at it calmly, you will be able to read the other party's patterns. If you start from scratch, you won't be able to make it in time for a sudden order. That's why you need to predict and make estimates so that you can respond in any way. It's okay if an order comes, and it's okay if it doesn't come. When you can think like this, you will be able to enjoy your work on a higher level. And you will be able to feel the change in who you are.

Spreading matcha to the world through hospitality to guests

Our overseas clients sometimes come to Japan to see the tea plantations in Nishio City and the Aiya factory, to see the management and attention to detail with which matcha is made. When this happens, the Overseas Business Department acts as hosts and supports their stay in Japan.

It's not just about showing them around. It's fascinating for people from overseas to see the tea fields and manufacturing process in the original place. By bringing back lots of fun memories, they're sure to fall in love with matcha even more. I think that this will help matcha spread even further around the world.

Spreading matcha culture to the world through hospitality. That's another important job of the Overseas Business Department.
